Onto the Train Station (Devi and Aemi)

Devi nodded, glad to see that Aemi was seemingly better. "Good. And Aemi?" She waited for her friend to make eye contact with her. Looking deep into her electric blue eyes, she said, "feel better soon, alright? Everything will be OK, I promise. See you later." With that, she continued out of the cafeteria and made her way to her and Lavi's room.

When she arrived to the fourth floor, she went straight for their room. Opening the door, she found that the only light in the room was coming from the moon shining through the window. As she shut the door and began to take off her hat, holsters and gloves, she thought she saw a form lying in the bed, but she couldn't be sure. "Lavi..?" She called out.

Lavi was laying in bed silently, looking toward the window, unsure what to do or think. He was nervous to what Devi was going to say to him whenever she got back. He decided to stay silent and try to think off of that subject, but wasn't working out well. After several moments, he head heard her familiar voice slowly whisper into his room. He looked over for a moment, "Devi," he spoke, letting her know that it was him in there.

Devi was stepping over to the dresser when she heard Lavi's voice say her name. A bit of relief washed over her, for a second she thought that she was seeing things. After taking off her boots, she changed from her corset to a less binding tank top then went over to the bed and sat on the edge of it, staring in to the darkness, unsure of what to say.

She thought of what he said before they parted ways. I love you. Thinking about it now, it was kind of bitchy of her to just leave like that. She knew what she was supposed to say back, but for some reason she couldn't say it back. It was as if those three words were stuck in her throat, refusing to come out. All through her life, people rejected her; either because of how she looked, or what her innocence allowed her to do and she became to be disappointed in humans. Sometimes she thought that she had a secret hate for them.

She sighed heavily then laid down on her side. Sincerely thinking about how much she cared for Lavi, how she felt as if she was missing her other half when he moved to the Asian Headquarters. She turned over to get under the covers and snuggle up to his back. Wrapping an arm around his waist, finding his hand and lacing her fingers with his, she put her lips to his ear and whispered, "I love you, Lavi."

Lavi could tell that she was most likely changing, so he looked away to give her her privacy. He didn't hear her speak, so he didn't speak either. He then felt that she had crept into bed next to him and began to wrap her arms around himself, which made him feel relieved that she wasn't mad at him. He then heard her say the three words he had hoped to hear. He smiled lightly as she said this, and he slowly let her hands remove from himself as he turned himself around. He let his hands find her face, holding her cheeks gently as he moved in and kissed her gently, closing his eyes.

Devi loved the way the moonlight hit Lavi's face as he turned over, lighting up the one beautifully colored Emerald eye. She smiled before he moved in for a kiss and kissed back. "I am disappointed that you didn't tell me that Allen was being quarantined, I think that's kind of important seeing as he's our good friend, but... Don't hide anything from me anymore, OK? Anything that comes to your mind, I want to hear it, no matter what it is." She then sighed happily and closed her eyes, pulling his body closer to hers, getting ready to fall asleep as she had intended earlier.

Lavi nodded as she heard him speak, "I didn't want to worry you about it right away... but if I hear anything, I'll inform you. He's fine for right now though," he finished his sentence as she moved in and closed her eyes. He could tell she intended to fall asleep, so he didn't stop her, wrapping his arms around her to keep her close as she began to fall asleep; he himself doing the same.

Two days later, Devi stood against the door to Aemi's room, waiting for her to arrive so they could go inside and exchange information. Once the girl arrived, Devi moved aside so Aemi could unlock her room and followed her in. "For the record, Lavi's in with us. But you first. What did you hear?" Devi said, crossing her arms, in a business mood.

When Aemi let her in, she immediately locked her room afterward and heard what Devi had to say. She was grateful that Lavi was now in with them and felt a relief within her. As she sat down on her bed, she nodded, "I haven't found out much, but I did find out that the European Branches--along with the other branches new he was Quarantined... they just weren't telling anyone because they didn't want it to be a big scene... still I can't find out why," Aemi pursed her lips as she looked around, "Allen has been gone for over two days now, so it's most likely that he's on a mission. Either way, this means we can't get to him right away," she nodded as she looked around, "The Clergymen are starting to get really obscene, especially with information on other exorcists. I asked them to give me a contact number for Komui because he was supposed to deliver a gollum earlier, and they refused. I might take it with Bak later and tell him what's going on..." she sighed.

Devi thought about what Aemi had said for a minute. "Yeah, telling Bak might be a good thing. That way, he can get us some information that the Clergymen won't tell us," she said. She just hoped that Bak wasn't in on whatever the Clergymen were planning.

"I heard some people back in the kitchen saying something about some General that was acting strange and disobeying orders. But of course, they gossip among themselves about what the exorcists are gossiping about. But it's my only lead on anything useful. Most of the people around here -- Exorcist and workers alike -- are pretty tight-lipped... That's all I have. We should go report to Bak for any missions that might be available to keep our cover, or try to get a taste for what side he's on."

Aemi nodded, "Yeah, a lot of the Exorcists I've talked to are very nervous. It's almost like they're being forced to hold secrets they don't want to..." she thought about it for a moment and took the information Devi explained about the general in. "Hmm... that's interesting... well whenever we can, yeah, it's a good idea to go see Bak... but right now, we better just lay low and wait for a mission to come to us." she pursed her lips as she tried to think about everything that's happened so far.

Devi sighed. "Yeah, I guess you're right..." She said. "We should split up for now and meet again in two days. I'll keep hanging around the Cafeteria to see if I can hear the Exorcist's side of the rumors." She put her hand on the doorknob of Aemi's room. "It's Friday afternoon, most of the workers are at work, shopping, or the Exorcists are on missions. Now would be a good time to train or relax. We don't know what will be ahead of us. I'll see you around." She smiled at Aemi before she left her in her room.

She found her way outside to a training courtyard. The old Chinese building didn't surround the grassy area with a few barren trees, so it seemed more like an unattended backyard. The wind gently blew Devi's hair in her face. She held a hand up so she could look around. She watched the yellowish-green tufts of grass tickle the periwinkle sky as she wandered aimlessly in the field, pondering stopping somewhere to train her nature control abilities. Her concentration turned to a black speck off in the distance. Squinting to see further, she could barely make out the figure of a person...

Road stared at Devi from across the field with expressionless eyes, staying still and silent. She was sitting on Lero as he floated quite still-like above the ground. Neither of them said a word as they watched Devi, until Road had realized that it was her. She smirked lightly as she crossed her arms, well well... I haven't heard from this girl in quite some time... she thought to herself, laughing lightly. She continued to watch, staying quiet, seeing if Devi would realize who she was. She was in her normal form, so she appeared to be human... but still, she had a distinct look.

Devi continued to walk closer, curious now as to who it was. The other person didn't seem to be moving, but facing her direction. The figure was becoming more defined and she put a hand on the handle of one of her guns, just to be safe. Upon closer inspection, the other person seemed to be floating on... an umbrella? No way. Devi thought, What is a Noah doing here? She's only seen this one a few times before when she was on a mission with Allen. She didn't know much about this one, but she knew that this being was very dangerous.

Devi glanced behind her before breaking out into a full run toward the Noah. Headquarters was too far away to turn back now, but far enough to give some sort of warning that the Noah was coming before they reached the branch. Stopping a few feet from what looked to be a small girl about Allen's age, Devi pulled a gun from her thigh holster and pointed at her. She was a little surprised that the girl didn't have gray skin and gold eyes like she did before. She looked more... human. But she didn't let that affect her expression. "Road Kamelot, right?" Devi said, staring down the barrel of her handgun, looking at the girl with anger in her eyes. "I really can't imagine what you're coming to the Order for..."

Road licked her lips when she had noticed that Devi ran toward her quickly. She didn't expect this, but decided to take it upon herself to use this to her advantage, "Well, hello there, Rosie." she mocked her eyes, giggling slightly, "Funny to see you here playing with the big boys. And I always come here... it is my territory, after all," she kept an innocent smile, "Everywhere is my territory... and you just so happen to be the one trespassing this time," she sighed, looking around, toward her gun, "Do you really think that you can hurt me when you don't even know what my true form is?" she had a smug expression. She didn't plan to hurt Devi, and even if she did, she didn't plan to kill her. She simply stayed motionless, resting on Lero as she watched Devi's expression.

Devi scowled and tightened her grip on her gun. She hated to be mocked. Any time someone came up to her and made any sort of fun of her, she always had this secret wish to hurt them. And now she almost had permission to. Even if Road was right, even if she couldn't do major damage to her, she could still see bloodfrom her body.

Devi's tone went darker. "'Your territory'? What are you talking about..?"

Road's smile creased more as she heard Devi's tone grow darker. She was easily amused by how humans easily lost their temper by the smallest of things. She stayed quiet for a moment, not needing to give out too much information before giggling once more, "Well, if you really must know... I own every bit of land you could ever imagine... why? Because Akuma are everywhere. They roam the world like lost beings, looking for a purpose... that is what the Earl gave them, of course..." she looked toward the sky, "It's amazing how many Akuma there are nowadays... they're everywhere. In your country... in your province... in your city... in your dreams..." she looked back into Devi's glassy eyes, "Tell me, Rosie... is there anyone you fear to lose?" her expression went darker.

Devi grew frustrated as Road spoke about the Akuma. It seemed as if all the world was going to Hell. She began to wonder if the exorcists were really going to win this war; what, with different Branches going against each other, one of their most powerful assets being limited, a general that might cause problems for the Order, and now a surplus of Akuma, too?

Her heart stopped for a second when Road asked her if she had anyone she'd fear to lose. Flashes of all the people she knew back at the European Branch came to mind; Jerry, Komui and the science branch, then Allen, Krory, Lenalee, Miranda, Kanda -- her dearest friends, then finally Lavi... Devi's resolved strengthened and she placed her hand on her second gun, but didn't take it out. You will not hurt them, she thought. "Why do you care?" She replied, keeping her tone even. "You've already taken enough from everybody, don't you think it's time to retreat?"

Road kept a smug smile across her face as she let her gaze wander off to the horizon. She stayed quiet for a moment, as if wanting to cause more frustration to Devi, "Oh, never mind about that.... it was nothing important anyways..." she sighed as she began to giggle, "Though, why would I retreat? I get so lonely when no one plays with me... it'd just tear me apart if I didn't let others feel the same way," she continued to stare at Devi with now hateful, yet amused eyes.

Lavi was walking down the hallways of the Order, trying to find something to do. He was getting rather bored, most everyone being on a mission. He was particularly looking for anyone he knew, and he was aware that Aemi and Devi were most likely together in her room, so he didn't want to interrupt them. He had gone near the back end of the building, where there were several windows that were glared by the sun. He looked around though, trying to see if anyone was training. That's when he saw Road Kamelot... what was she doing here? And even more nerve wrecking, he saw Devi being approached by her. His eyes widened as he took a step back, ready to head down toward the back doors.

"Is that your goal now," Devi challenged Road, "to make everyone lonely?" She felt the tension between them growing, and she prepared for an escape. She could only fight the Noah for so long, she knew she wasn't strong enough to stop one. Devi stealthily put her finger on the trigger of the gun still in the holster. "What are you planning?" She almost whispered.

Road kept a smile across her face, trying not to look too innocent. She stayed quiet still, shrugging at what Devi had asked, "Really, all I do is look for people to play with. That's all," she kept her eyes on Devi's, "Rosie, you don't look so good... are you sure you're okay?" she wondered as she started to kick her feet as she hovered on Lero.

Lavi immediately headed toward the back door, going as quickly as he could without making a scene to the other Exorcists. He kept his hammer in hand as he immediately made his way toward the door. As he opened it quickly, jumped forward, onto the training field, quite a distance from Devi and Road, still. "Hey, Umbrella girl," he spoke darkly. He absolutely despised Road, and never felt he had the ability to say her true name without going psychotic, "You better keep your fucking distance before I rip you to shreds..." he was trying to hold back his anger.

“To play with… Yeah, right.” Devi said. “Were all those finders, citizens and weaker exorcists to play with?” She ignored Road’s second question. She wasn’t about to admit that no, she wasn’t feeling OK. She was nervous, she thought she wasn’t going to make it in time to warn everyone else; that her death {if it happened} would be in vain. She didn’t want to think about what would happen to all her dearest friends. I have to do it now, Devi thought.

Just as she was about to pull her second gun out, she heard Lavi’s voice. Taking her gaze off of Road for the first time, she watched Lavi with a horrified expression. No! No no no! This can’t happen! The person she wanted to save most just walked into the jaw of the of the monster. “Lavi, go.” She said in a dark tone, her voice shaking with attempt to hide her fear. “If there’s a Noah here, who knows how many Akuma are around, or if there’s even another Noah nearby? They could be waiting for the strongest exorcists to spit up and attack Headquarters. You have to go back.” She stared at the redhead with determination in her eyes, hoping to get the point across. “Please.” She added in a low whisper.

Lavi heard what she had to say and shook his head, "No, Devi... you need to go back and warn everyone... I know you don't want anyone getting hurt, but you're important to the Order right now... and I can handle a few Akuma she throws at me. This isn't the first time I've been against her... and if I could handle her dreams... I can handle her physically." He shook his head as he held his hammer aside, "Extend," he spoke as it grew in size significantly. He began walking toward them, "Devi, go." he sounded more serious. When someone tried to get between him and someone he cared for... his psychosis took range, as though he believed that he must truly destroy that certain person or else everyone he ever knew would die.

Road watched as Lavi told her to leave. She could tell that Devi would most likely argue, but she stayed quiet, keeping her innocent smile to herself as she watched the two. She found it amusing how humans cared so much for each other, but always ended up hurting themselves in the end. She found it selfish in a way. As she watched them, she hovered on Lero quietly, not wanting to interrupt this "climactic moment".
