Aemi pursed her lips for a long moment, when Devi had asked if it was bad. She looked at her, unsure how to properly sort her thoughts into a sentence at first. "I was sent here to spy on the Asian Branch," she spoke very quietly, "Because the European Branch is in suspicion of them conspiring behind them... they believe the Clergymen are to blame." she explained, quietly enough so that only Devi had heard her. She then wiped her eyes to avoid them from tearing up and stayed silent for a moment, "Hopefully Allen is fine now and is still able to wander like we are, but if he's not, I have to report back to the European Branch and tell them what they're doing to their exorcists..."

Devi could hear her own heartbeat in her ears. Spying must have been the reason why she was here. Komui told her nothing of the mission before she left, just that she needed to stick by Aemi. She thought it was because he was super busy that he didn't say anything, but thinking about it now, did he not tell her because he knew she would say no? Devi didn't want to be used to betray the very people that took her in when no one else would...

She sighed. She was in this now and there was no escape. "The Clergymen, huh..?" Devi said, closing her eyes. She couldn't believe this. She wanted nothing more than to scream and had the sudden urge to destroy. "At registration, they told me that you had information on our first mission... Is this what they were refering to, or do we have to go somewhere? We could really use to kick some Akuma ass right now..."

Aemi shrugged as she shook her head, "We're staying here, pretending we're being temporarily transferred to train and take on harder missions. We should be fine if we go together, or with another Exorcist. But while doing that, we're also supposed to be gathering information on the Clergymen activity." she sighed, "If they've been holding people under quarantine for their own reasons without the other branches knowing... this could be a problem."

Devi's eyes wandered around the room, her thoughts seemingly stuck on Allen's absence.

She suddenly had an idea. "Well, maybe seeing him will cheer you up?" She offered. "We should visit him... If we can see him, then he's probably able to wander." Devi didn't say the other option. She didn't want to cause any more hurt for Aemi and she didn't want to think that Allen is stuck there, waiting for his Death Day...

Aemi nodded, listening to her, "I see... well I guess it couldn't hurt to try... where would we find him though?" she wondered. She looked around, seeing no sight of him in the cafeteria, so it made her more discouraged, especially since it was dinnertime.

Devi glanced around, noting more and more exorcist filling up the benches and tables. Was it really that late already? A small smile turned into a laugh from Devi. "We can find him here! Allen eats like there's no tomorrow. His parasite-type innocence makes his stomach a bottomless pit!"

Devi's mood lightened a bit upon realizing that she'll see some more of her friends that got transferred as they flock to the cafeteria for the Black Order's delicious food. She looked forward to introducing Aemi to them. "And if he doesn't show up," she added, "I know some people who will show up that will know how to find him."

Aemi nodded, listening to her. She laughed slightly when she talked about Allen's appitite, and continued to watch around the room, "True... if worse comes to worse, I can demand information from the Clergymen. They can't deny information needed on other Exorcist's location." she nodded as she still watched around herself. She still couldn't see him, but didn't give up hope.

"Hm... That's true." Devi replied. Her gaze averted from keeping an eye out for Allen, to the floor. "Both you and Allen are cursed, right..? What if they lock you away? What if that's the real reason they brought you here? What would you do..?" She asked softly. She was fine with being an exorcist until now, this wasn't in the job description.

Aemi thought about it for a moment, biting her lip. She thought about it in her head, imagining all the possibilities. She didn't want to think about it, if she was here to be held captive like so... could it all have been an act, truly? She didn't want to rule it out as impossible, but she didn't want it to be an option either...

"I won't let that happen." Devi said, defiantly, breaking the silence between them. "You won't get put away. I'll get you back to the European Headquarters before they have a chance to. But for now, we have to go with what they want us to. We're not sure if it's an act or not."

She placed her hand on top of Aemi's so the girl would make eye contact, then smiled at her. "You've got to trust me. We'll find Allen, and make sure that both of you are safe. We'll make everything right again."

Aemi nodded, looking back up at her. She didn't know what to say at the moment, so she just looked at her with an agreeing nod. She looked around once more, trying to see if she recognized anyone. She kept a small knot in her stomach though; she wasn't able to keep the worry away.

Lavi had headed down to the cafeteria, assuming that that's where Devi and Aemi would have headed since it was dinnertime. He stayed silent as he walked through the hallways, heading out, avoiding eye contact with all other exorcists. when he finally arrived to the cafeteria, he looked around, trying to find Aemi or Devi. When he finally spotted them, he began walking in there direction.

As if she had a special sense for him, Devi's gaze fell on the redhead coming toward them. She looked away quickly, trying not to make eye contact with him for she had mixed feelings about him right now.

"We're looking for Allen. Tell us where he is." She said shortly, knowing that he knew the answer, still not meeting his eyes. Devi still couldn't believe that he didn't share this with her.

Lavi watched her as she seemed to be in a frustrated mood. He pursed his lips when he looked over at Aemi, seeing that she was obviously distressed. When he heard Allen's name just then, he felt a sudden change of malice in his stomach, understanding now that this was the reason that Aemi must have been upset. He looked down for a minute, "If I had said anything before... it might have caused an uproar. I'm not sure where he is right now, but he's fine, I can assure you... things have changed since last year... but it doesn't mean they're any better," he looked away, scratching the back of his head.

Devi watched Aemi instead of looking up at Lavi, she didn't seem to react. As she heard Lavi's excuse, she grew more frustrated. It didn't matter what would've happened; he should have told her.

"That's not an answer," she said almost angrily. "you know where he is, you're just not saying. We need information from him immediately. Where is he?"

Lavi grew more nervous; he wasn't supposed to share any information on those being watched... but he knew that he had to tell them because it was probably going to help him. He looked around to make sure that no one was watching, "Honestly, I really don't know where he is. He's free to go where ever he wants... he's just being watched by Order heavily... Look, I don't want to scare you guys, but you guys are under surveilence too... and they're probably trying to avoid you being in contact with him," he pursed his lips.

Devi's eyes widened. She didn't know whether to be relieved over the fact that Allen was free enough to wander, or to be scared that people were watching her and Aemi; maybe everything that just happened between her and Lavi was a lie so that he could watch her. It's what Bookmen do, right?

"Well, know that we will see him. Soon." Devi said, standing up. This was a lot of information take in at once, and she felt as if she had just been taken advantage of. It sickened her. "I'm not very hungry anymore. And I need to talk to Aemi alone, so please excuse us." She started for the cafeteria exit, flashing Lavi an angry glance as she passed, hoping Aemi had followed her.

Lavi shook his head, listening as she sounded more angry, more so at him than anything. He knew he worded what he had said badly, and this was proof of it, "No, Devi." he refused to let her leave, grabbing her hand tightly, pulling her back, "You're taking this the wrong way, obviously. I'm not one of the people who's supposed to watch you. The Clergymen are watching you." he pursed his lips. Though he didn't know of their actual reason for coming, hew knew that the chief had ordered the Clergymen to watch the two to make sure that they weren't disrupting the flow of the Order. He then made sure that she was the only one who heard him speak, "I'm not supposed to have feelings... but I'm worried about what happens to you. That's why I wanted you to come with me... that's why I want to protect you. That's probably why I love you so much," he blushed slightly, looking away as he let go of her wrist.

If it wasn't for the spark of excitement she got when Lavi grabbed her wrist, Devi would've angrily ripped herself from his grasp. The Clergymen are watching us... Devi thought.Wait, didn't Aemi say that the we're supposed to watch the Clergymen? She was so lost in putting the pieces of the puzzles together that she almost didn't hear the last five words that Lavi said. Love. She couldn't remember the last time that someone said to her...

She gingerly took her hand back from him "I'm sorry," she whispered. "But I really do need to talk to Aemi alone... I'll see you later." She looked back at the other girl and gestured with her head for her to follow, then started off again, waiting for her in the hallway just outside the cafeteria.

Lavi understood, looking down slightly. "I'll be waiting in my room if you need anything," he spoke one last time before looking around and walking back. He knew that he probably upset her, but he didn't want to hide anything from her.

Aemi watched Devi as she got up angrily and tried to get away from Lavi. As Lavi grabbed her hand and began speaking to her quietly, she lost her range of hearing for them. She didn't want to ease drop though, so she stayed out of it. As they had finished speaking, Devi directed her attention to Aemi, giving her the signal to follow, and so Aemi got herself up and began following her, walking past Lavi.

Once Aemi caught up with her, Devi waited for everyone to clear out of the hallway. "Lavi says that the Clergymen are watching us, they're suspicious of us finding Allen." She reported to her in a serious tone. "I think he was insinuating that we shouldn't seek him out, but I think you should find him. We should both split up to look for information, sticking together would be more suspicious and get us caught quicker. We'll need a place that we can meet that's private, away from listening ears, so I'll come to your room every other afternoon and we'll exchange what we know, does that sound good? Any compromises?"

Aemi listened to what she had to say; it was just what she feared. When she had gone into the research room to find information, the clergymen were giving her a hard time about looking into his files. The only reason that she was able to look at them was because she said it was under Generals' orders. She knew that this was going to be difficult... she just wasn't sure why they didn't want them talking to Allen. "That sounds fine to me... if you can, try to get Lavi to help out, especially since he knows whats going on more than we do..." she looked around.

Devi nodded. "Will do. Lavi is supposed to be neutral in this situation because he's a Bookman, so he's probably trusted more than anyone here. But I have in with him." She giggled. Everything seemed to come together as fast as they fell apart. She was glad that she finally knew what to do and how to deal with it. Having people to back her up and be there for her was quite the asset, also. "Oh. And to put your mind at ease, Allen's free to move around. Not without being watched, of course. If there's nothing else, I'll see you day after tomorrow, then?"

Aemi nodded, feeling relieved to hear that Allen was able to move quickly. She looked down for a moment, taking a breather as she calmed herself inside. When she then spoke about seeing her tomorrow, she looked back up, "Yeah, that sounds good..." she nodded.
